Timeless ; CF Camp '13 - 5-7 July : Part 1

Hebrews 8:8
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.

Hello there! :) I guess it's finally time for me to post about CF Camp. Been dragging it for so long already. So let's begin!

5th July
After Shman dropped me off at Taylor's, I went for lunch with Brendan at No Reservations, a place I had never tried before but people raved about. Food was so-so, maybe slightly above average, but I don't see what all the hype was about. When we were almost done with our lunch, Jacky dropped by. We walked back to Taylor's together, collected our luggage from CZ 8, and then walked all the way to CPU building. It was hot and my luggage was heavy, gr #complainer
Crossed the road at CPU to where the bus was, and it was so exciting seeing everyone! :) It had been a while since I'd been to CF, you see. We were supposed to depart at 2.30, but due to typical Malaysian timing, we only got to leave at 3. And then came the problem of the lack of seats. Few of us had squeeze into seats of 2, with 3 people, because there wasn't enough space on the bus. So I sat with Jeannie and Lydia! :) Aaron was making sure everyone had filled in their indemnity forms, when we realized that there were some forms still with us which we hadn't passed to SDC. We were at PappaRich then, and Aaron got off the bus, and ran as though his life depended on it. He was quite fast actually- by the time the bus stopped in front of Metropolitan College, he caught up to us within seconds. YAY FOR AARON! :D :D

Off we went! Our bus driver was reaaaally scary. He smoked, he sped, he tailgated, and he kept swerving in and out. I sat nearest to the aisle, so I could see everything he was doing. When Gabriel told (yes, told. Not asked.) him to stop smoking and to slow down, he yelled at Gabriel. I was feeling a little tired but I couldn't sleep, was too nervous. Instead I spent most of the drive there praying for journey mercy, making eye signals with Gabriel, and eavesdropping on the people at the back playing 'Green Glass Door'. Brendan started the game, and since I was the one who introduced it last year, he yelled 'JASSY!' all the way from the back. When people were sleeping. Quite awks eheh.

In 2 hours, we arrived. Kind of. We went up this hill, 'Bukit Hantu', and my first reaction was 'Are we in the right place?!', but we were. Problem was, the road was really narrow and it was really hard for the bus to get in, what more get out. So our driver decided to hold us hostage until he could find a place to turn so he could get out. I think by then we all kinda panicked a little because he drove past El Sanctuary and went quite far in. Thankfully he managed to find some level ground where he did a 3-point turn! Then he drove back and dropped us off at El Sanc. I HAVE NEVER BEEN THAT THANKFUL TO BE OFF A BUS. Loaded our bags into Pr Mark's and Kenneth's cars, then walked up into El Sanc. It's a really beautiful place, surrounded by trees and trees and trees everywhereee! :D

Gathered at the hall where we checked which chalets we were in, and got our name tags. I was in Chalet 8 with the rest of the senior gals and someone named Caroline (whom I'd get to know later), and I had been chosen to be Chalet Leader. As was Kerby, who was freaking out because he thought that 'CL' stood for Cell Leader and why was he cell leader etc etc. Hahah Kerby :'D Got my name tag and I was in team Seiko! The rest of the teams were Casio, Omega, Fossil, Swatch and Rolex. Because our theme was Timeless. Geddit geddit?

Unfortunately we don't have the plastic tags anymore, since the committee collected them after camp :(

We gathered in our groups - me, Jeslyn, Tiam, Kerri, Norman, Thiva, Eugene Wong, Kerby and Mervina. After that we were briefed on Camp Rules and they also started the Angels and Mortals game! :D I got Joshua Wong, eheh. Afterwards we were dismissed and we went in search of our chalet. Which was quite a high climb, what more with our heavy bags. I didn't get to take pictures, so I don't have an exact picture of my chalet, but this is sort of how it looked like:

This is actually Samuel's chalet :P

And Michelle's room. Our room was like this too, except that our bath and all were on the left.

Oh and I have I mentioned there were so many dogs and puppies around?

They were so tame and adorable *squeals*

After resting and talking for a bit, we went down for dinner. You see right, before I came to El Sanc, people kept telling me about how good the food was. And yes, it was indeed good :D

After dinner, we had our first session. Before worship, we had to create our team flag. We were stumped at first, but then Tiam thought of the term 'frozen in time', and from there we drew a snowflake-clock thingy. And then came the problem of not having any marker pens or colour pens. Had to borrow from the other team, eheheh.

Drawinggggg.

The (partial) end product! :D

After games, we had worship led by Aaron, and then word. Pr Mark shared about how we're affected by time, but God isn't. Basically this first sermon revolved around our theme, Timeless - God being timeless! :)

After session, we headed out for a bonfire! :) It took a really long time to light, and even when it did it kept dying off. So we mainly relied on phone flashlights. Hahahah. After a while, the bonfire started burning pretty nicely (ONE OFF MY BUCKET LIST!) and we sang songs and walked around it. Heeee :D

While there, we also had to create a chant. At first our team wanted to do some 'Chan Mali Chan' thing, but right at the last minute we decided to go with a really common chant that Thiva knew. He would shout out lines, and after each one, we would echo him. It was something like this:

Everywhere we go-oh
People wanna know
Who we are
So we tell them
We are the 'Seiko' (pronounced: Psycho) team
The very very Seiko team

And just for laughs, Thiva added this at the end.

'That's it lah'. *selamba tone*

It was so funny hahah. Rolex did a really good job. Bryan lah, can come up with such awesome stuff. Also we played this ball-throwing game which was really hard since it was so dark, we could barely see what more catch tennis balls >___>

After that, we were dismissed and went back to our respective chalets. In our chalet, we were taking turns bathing when En Leang suddenly came up and asked Tiff for a hairband so he could tie his fringe! Hahaha he looked so cute omgosh. We ended up staying up past our 'lights out' time, playing cards - Snap and Heart Attack. We were shrieking and shouting so loudly that after En Leang left, Michelle came up to our room and told us to tone it down. But we were done by then so .. hahah. Headed to sleep- I was bunking with Caroline- at around 2.

................................................................

So that's Part 1 :) Will continue Part 2 soon. Stay tuned! xx
